By Liesel le Roux THE lead role she played in her school’s musical Alice in Kannaland in May
last year, was a life changing experience for Carolyn Forword, one of
Principia College’s top performers in the matric examination 2004.
Caroline obtained an average of 85,3% with distinctions in English First
Language HG, Afrikaans Second Language HG and Biology HG.
Her role as Alice made Caroline realise that the performing arts is her real
passion.
“Mr Ronnie Burton opened new doors for me when he gave me the lead in the
musical,” Carolyn says.
She charmed local audiences with her acting, singing and dancing skills, and
was shortly afterwards accepted at the prestigious Waterfront Theatre
College in Cape Town. Caroline started her studies for a four year
international diploma in drama, musical theatre and dancing on Monday.
“I’m really looking forward to my studies,” Caroline said on Sunday.
Caroline, who says she loves art, athletics, swimming and tennis, was leader
of the student council and of the school’s community forum.
Carolyn and her parents, Jeremy and Trudene, and her brother David-John (16)
returned to South Africa two years ago after a five year sojourn in Engeland
where Mr Forword worked for Vodaphone. He is now a director of Olea Olives
in Oudtshoorn.
