MATJIESVLEI COTTAGES
Die Bokwagtershuis
Die Bokwagtershuis, “Goat keeper’s house”, was originally built during the 19th century as accommodation for Matjiesvlei’s goat keeper. His task was to tend to all the goats of the different farmers in the valley. The house has been authentically restored to maintain its atmosphere, with addition of modern amenities.
- Sleeps 6.
- In the main bedroom there is a double bed, the second and third bedrooms have 2 single beds each.
- All linen included.
- The cottage has an open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge, overlooking the veld and mountains.
- There is a wood burning closed combustion system for heating in winter and an air conditioner for cooling in summer.
- This is the ideal entertainment area with a built-in braai and more than enough seating for guests.
- Braai grids, fire tongs and swartpotjie available.
- The kitchen is equipped with all the required utensils, including a dishwasher.
- The washing machine is in the kitchen.
- The one bathroom has a shower, the other has a shower as well as a bath.
- Hot water is provided by electrical geysers.
- On hot summer days you can cool off in the nearby farm dam or in the river.
- The entrance to our private picnic spot at the river is opposite the Skuur.
- The cottage has security screens in front of all windows and doors.
- Free WiFi access in the cottage.
Middelplaas
The history of the cottage on Middelplaas (Middle Farm) is unknown. It is the only house on Middelplaas and was probably many decades ago used as a residence for the people looking after the farm for the owners who lived elsewhere in the valley. Over the years it became very run down before it was renovated by the present owners into a cottage with the most beautiful view over the olive orchard, veld and mountains. It is a cosy 2 bed roomed self catering cottage, only 3 minutes walk from the private picnic site next to the river.

- Gas geyser.

- Air-conditioner in lounge.
- Free Wi-Fi.
- Fireplace in lounge for heating or to braai during winter.
- Outside built braai on grass.
- Kitchen is fully equipped, including braai grid, tongs and swart potjie.
Die Stalle
Die Stalle (The Stables) was originally built as the residences for two of the owners of undivided shares in the agricultural land bordering the Kleinrivier (Little River). Later owners turned the houses into stables. It has now been restored into a comfortable 3 bedroomed cottage with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains. It is next to the farm dam.

- In the main bedroom there is a double bed, the second and third bedrooms have 2 single beds each.
- All linen included.
- Two of the bedrooms have Queen Anne stoves for heating in winter.
- The cottage has an open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge, overlooking the veld and mountains.
- There is a Dover Stove for cooking or heating in winter and an air conditioner for cooling in summer.
- This is the ideal entertainment area with a built-in braai and more than enough seating for guests.
- Braai grids, fire tongs and swartpotjie available.
- The kitchen is equipped with all required utensils, including a dishwasher.
- The washing machine is in the lobby.
- The one bathroom has a bath and shower, while the en suite bathroom has a shower. Hot water is provided by gas cylinders.
- On hot summer days you can cool off in the nearby farm dam.
- The entrance to our private picnic spot at the river is opposite the Skuur.
